IDEAS FOR MAGAZINE

IDEAS FOR CREATING MY MAGAZINE

In order for me to produce a high quality magazine, I start to think about the important aspects of a magazine and how I want to create and present mine. I was tasked with coming up with a range of different names I was going to call my magazine, the different fonts I would consider for my Masthead and a list of bands and singers. Below this is what I have come up with for my magazine.

WHAT I CHOSE FOR MY MAGAZINE

The name I have chosen for my magazine is Break Out. The reason I chose this to be the main name for the magazine as the words “break out” connote well with the genre of the magazine as punk pop and alternative bands “break out” from the norm. Another reason I chose the name Break Out as it can also link to “breaking news” which is a job of a magazine. The name of the magazine is also short and catchy which makes people remember it.

The font I have chosen for the masthead for my magazine is Dharma Punk. The reason I chose this font as I really like how the letters stand out behind the box behind it. I also really like the little broken bits around the text, which works really well with the masthead as the magazine is called Break Out. I also like the font is sans serif, as the magazine is a modern, pop punk and alternative genre magazine.

The band name I have chosen to write about for my double page spread is CRXSS. I chose this name because it’s a short and catchy name that everyone will remember. I also changed the O to and X to make the name stand out more. I have decided to make this a two piece band with a lead singer and a drummer. I did this because majority of bands will have 4 or 5 members. During 2010-2012, Panic! At the Disco became a duo after the band had split. The members left were Brendon Urie, lead singer, and Spencer Smith, drummer. The only current 2 member that is well known in the genre is twenty one pilots with their members Tyler Joseph, lead singer/rapper, and Josh Dun, drummer. Since the genre rarely showed two member bands, I decided to be different and use it for my double page spread.
